What is E20 fuel
E20 means ethanol 20. The E20 fuel is basically blending of 80% fuel and 20% of ethanol. Ethanol is an organic compound, a sort of alcohol which can be derived by formentation of sugarcane, fruits, vegetables and crops.
Why E20 fuel
We all knows India has no it's own source of crude oil. India depends upon Middle East countries and Russia for crude oil which increases import tax, which increases oil price and increases
By blending ethanol with petrol the dependency on fossil fuel will decrease to some extent. Also ethanol can be derived from sugarcane and crops so ultimately our farmers will get benifit. India has saved 41,000 crore rupees by E10 blending.
Fuel price decrease?
No, before six months when E10 came into market, there was no change in fuel price so relating to this upgrade, we expect no price change in E20 fuel.
How it will impact to your car
Most of cars playing on Indian roads are E10 complaint or less than it. By putting E20 fuel in it, the vehicle will be under powered and fuel efficiency will decrease. In cars the milage will drop up to 6-7% and in bike it will 4%. In long term the rubber seal, piston and palstic parts will get damaged.
Should you put E20 fuel
No....! Prefer E10 fuel over E20 if available. Actually E10 fuel will aslo go on sale parallel to E20 fuel so use E10 fuel even if your car is E20 compatible.
