1. Tata unveils an SUV based on HBX concept.
2. A budget SUV with plenty of features.
3. Ahead on launch in coming month.
Tata officially unveiled their new upcoming micro SUV Punch which is developed on their Alfa architecture. The all new punch is based on their HBX concept which was showcased in auto expo 2020. Tata confirms the production variant will be named as Punch and to be unveil in October 2021. It will offer a valuable package with its feature loaded cabin. Some official information has been unveiled which are described below.
As the images has been unveiled the design can be easily found. It has raised bonnet and high ground clearance of 200mm which is clearly evident of being an SUV. It has received a muscular look. At front it has got split headlamp treatment which is inspired from their premium SUV Harrier. The grille gets chrome underline and integrates the LED DRL. The bumper is muscular and holds the fog lamps.
It gets thik plastic cladding at side too. In the higher varients 16" alloy wheels are on offer. The alloy wheel design may be inspired from Hyundai Verna. It revives a pair of roof rails which offers it an SUV stance. The rear door handles are placed on the C pillar like its elder sister Altroz. The wind mirrors are electric adjustable and holds the turn indicator too. At the rear it gets LED tail lamps in a tri arrow like pattern. Overall the rear design is quite simple. The bumper gets thik plastic.
The new punch will come with a lot of features like 7inch touch screen infotainment system which supports android auto and apple car play. We expect the music system will be a 4 speaker, 2 twitter unit. Automatic climate control, wireless charger, semi digital instrument cluster like Altroz and Harrier, keyless entry and push button start stop, all four power windows, tilt steering wheel, all four adjustable headrests and many more.
The powertrain and transmission option hasn't unveiled, however we expect a 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine which will good to crunch out a maximum power of 83bhp and 113nm torque. With this engine we should expect a 5 speed manual and 5 speed automatic transmission. Tata may offer a turbo petrol engine too.
The all new Punch is based on Alfa architecture which also underpins their premium hatchback Altroz. So we should expect a good safety ratings from Punch like Altroz. Punch is going to hit showrooms in October 2021 and it will cost 5.50 lakh to 8.50 lakh ex showroom.
