Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG Launched

Japanese car maker Toyota has launched the compact SUV Urban Cruiser HyRyder with CNG fuel options. It is available in S and G variant where price for S variant has been fixed at 13.23 lakh and for G variants it goes to 15.29 lakh.

Toyota had started receiving bookings for CNG HyRyder in November 2022 at token amount of 25,000. The hyRyder CNG costs 95,000 more as compared to their petrol models. After this HyRyder becomes the second compact SUV with CNG.

The HyRyder is powered by Maruti's 1.5 liter 4 cylinder K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine which is good for 103bhp and 136nm in petrol mode. This figure reduces to 88bhp and 122nm in CNG mode. This combines with a 5 speed MT.

Toyota is not offering any autatic gearbox with HyRyder CNG. The claimed fuel economy in CNG mode happens to be 26.6km/kg. With this now HyRyder has three power train choices; petrol, strong hybrid and CNG.

The Maruti sibling of Urban Cruiser HyRyder is 40,000 cheaper and it will continue rivalry with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
